Eivissa – (I-Beefa)

Posted in Uncategorized on October 18, 2010 by faithlesstourblog

The last gig of the summer was conveniently scheduled on Faithless’ favourite island… IBIZA!

With the concert on the Saturday, a quiet drink down the Rock Bar in Ibiza Town was just the ticket for the Friday night…

Andy, Dave, Mister Bliss, Maxi, Sudha, Stan & Jo down the front...

Shame LSK & Harry didn’t make it out…

(and Blissy of course…)

The next day was spent lazing around… some recovering, others catching some rays of sunshine…

At 11.30pm minibuses arrived to transport everyone to Privilege, the largest nightclub in the world, to hang out for a couple of hours before the 2am stage call…

Tiesto popped in to the dressing room to say hello…

…and to show-off how good he is at tweaking his nipples…!

After loads more chatting, drinking and mucking around in the dressing rooms… It was soon time to head to the stage…

A quick pause on the way through the Spinal Tap-esque corridors for Maxi to catch up…

SHOWTIME!

After blowing away a full capacity crowd, there was much rejoicing as the reality of the forthcoming 3 weeks off began to dawn on the weary bunch of musicians…

On the way out, Maxi took a while to individually say goodbye to all the Privilege dancers.

Some people stayed on in Ibiza, others holidayed elsewhere, but for sure, everyone deserved every minute of not being on a gruelling travel schedule…

So far , since March this year, Faithless have travelled just over 37,000 miles…

Which is roughly one and a half times around the world!

And it ain’t finished yet…!!

V Fest – Chelmsford (Sunday)

Posted in Uncategorized on October 11, 2010 by faithlesstourblog

The following morning there was already a small crowd of autograph hunters outside the hotel in Birmingham…

Maxi and Blissy duly obliged…

…until Jo stepped in – “All aboard, we’re late!”

The motorway was jam-packed and Carl and Ratty were soon engaged in a race…for the fastest (slow-)moving lane

When the tour buses finally arrived (we won’t reveal who won the race here – it’s still being disputed), it was hard not to miss the ridiculously large police presence…

Luckily they turned out to be of the more friendly variety…

Panic over…it was time to greet the stewards…

And then to the dressing rooms, where LSK was the first to notice the poster on the wall…

…The charity ’21st Century Leaders’ was calling all artists and performers to draw themselves as a stick-person and to draw a symbol of hope… The poster showed Ozzy Osbourne’s contribution…

LSK took up the mantle and got to work on the Faithless artistic contribution…

…while Blissy got excited at the prospect of a rain-free afternoon, as the sun had just popped its head out!

Skin from Skunk Anansie came by to say ‘hello’…

Sudha had made friends with everyone in the Marshall tent…

…and acquired herself a little amplifier…

…and Maxi found a kind chap with a golf buggy to take him to the guest area where his friends were waiting –  nowhere near the Artists area, of course, but on the other side of the site!

Maxi signs some wellies in the guest area

Back by the dressing rooms LSK had bumped into (or been bumped into by) Chas Smash from Madness fame…

LSK can’t draw stick-people…

"are we all ready then?"

Time to head to stage…

No-one fell for the 100 metre ride to the stage offered by minibus…

"I think we can manage to find it... It's that big stage looking thing over there, no?"

“SHOWTIME  SHOWTIME”, came the call from Tommy…

…and it was out to face the madness…

—-

The show was watched at the side of stage by a proper variety of well-known characters, from Noel Gallagher to Dizzee Rascal…

…and quite a few hung around to thank and greet everyone as they came off stage…

Lip from Shameless

Beverly Knight

…and of course, the one and only, Elly Jackson from La Roux…

…then Maxi turned and almost tripped over a bearded fellow who seemed to be kneeling at his feet…

"Get up Steve!"

It was none other than Sea-Sick Steve, giving his humblest of praises as only he can…

They exchanged numbers, promised to collaborate together in the future, and…

…it was off to the bar…!

V Fest – Staffordshire (saturday)

Posted in Uncategorized on October 6, 2010 by faithlesstourblog

Maxi’s bus left South London around midday and headed onto the M40 towards Staffordshire… Where it would meet up with the band bus at the allotted service station…(the one with the waitrose).

On the way, Maxi passed the time playing his favourite guitar ‘Cherry’…

Stan remembered to give Ratty £20 for completing his charity rally across Europe.

"An honest Bass player...now there's a first...!"

Wearing his security outfit, that he acquired in Scotland at T-in the Park, Maxi went to say hello to the other bus…

Jo was turning the aisles of Waitrose into a catwalk, for the purpose of showing off her sexy new coat…

A fantastically short distance later, both buses rolled into the backstage area of Weston Park… …the site of the first V festival of the weekend for Faithless.

Where a warm welcome from John McBeath was waiting…

After a bit of hanging around… Maxi & Blissy had a little bit of press to attend to…

First up was the NME, who have never warmed to Faithless… and who recently took it a step further by seemingly refusing to even acknowledge their existence… Apparently Faithless weren’t at Glastonbury or T-in the Park!!

The poor interviewer who got given a camera and some questions, and sent to have a friendly chat with Faithless, got a bit more than he bargained for…

A relaxed and jovial atmosphere filled the dressing rooms prior to stage time…

A minibus came to take everyone the walking distance to the stage…

SHOWTIME!

Dan the Drum Tech.

An even crazier crowd than 2007, when Faithless last played Weston Park, got high praise indeed from an exhausted band who had given it their all…

Maxi passed unnoticed all day in his security hat and jacket

The Don Lampy 'Dennis Brown' & 'Maxi Jazz'

Some lovely guests of Maxi’s had bought him a very apt present…

...like a tweak on your nipple...

A good nights sleep in Birmingham and then up to do it all over again tomorrow…
